All of my life, I’ve been a working professional. I worked in the hospitality business for most of my professional career. When the company where I had worked for 11 years was sold & subsequently eliminated my position, I had to come up with a new plan.
In the midst of my professional career, I was able to have 2 children. Fortunately, I was able to work from home with them for a few years before my job was eliminated. In January of 2017, my oldest son was diagnosed with Autism. My youngest son received his diagnosis exactly 1 year later.
Professional work is hard enough for any mom, but for moms of children with special needs, it is nearly impossible. School, therapies, extra-curriculars, more therapies, doctor’s visits, etc...most companies are not very understanding to accommodate these things. Let alone the fact that my entire career was spent in hospitality, which is a 24/7 business.
My husband works full-time to support us & he loves going to auctions. So, he & I came up with the idea to sell the things he finds & that we enjoy to help support our family. My Grandmother was always decked out to the nines with her clothes & her costume jewelry. I always bought her costume jewelry every Christmas, which she wore proudly. Costume jewelry just makes me smile & makes me feel close to her again.
My husband has a great eye & is not only great at procuring great deals of jewelry, but also other vintage items. He also does lapidary work where he cuts & sets his own gemstones in jewelry. In addition to this store, we also have a store on Etsy for his gemstone jewelry (Gero’s Gems) & 2 Ebay usernames to sell the other vintage items he finds (daveskitchen & gtlbike).
All purchases you make on any of our platforms helps us to provide care, treatment & therapies for our 2 children on the Autism spectrum. It’s fun for us to find & sell these items, but this is a good source of income for us to support our children. I am able to only work part-time with children with delays while my boys are in school because of this business. We are so grateful for your support & love.
We truly appreciate your business!
